Controlling
Mexican Suppliers Quality
Some of the Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese companies have
moved their factories from Mexico to China. However, some
major subcontracting and electronic companies stay on in Chihuahua,
Monterrey, and Guadalahara. Most of them are electronics companies.
Flextronics, SCI and Solectron are still present. These factories
continue to produce and export to the US.
Our work for US customers using Mexican subcontractors has
been increasing rather than decreasing in spite of the reduction
of active factories in Mexico. AMREP has about 50 inspectors
in Mexico specializing in electronic product inspections.
We have deployed inspectors for American customers which have
PDAS, telecommunication networks
cards, cellular telephones, printers and electronic subassemblies
on the electronic side. On the mechanical sector, our
activities in the mechanical and electro-mechanical parts
and assemblies of the automotive industries, medical equipment
and hardware. One new activity which is growing
rapidly is our inspection of
sand cast and die-cast metal parts and extrusions.
On the consumer product side, AMREP Buyinspect.com is active
on inspecting clothing and assorted Made-In-Mexico products
at Puebla and Mexico City.
AMREP Mexico also does supplier manufacturing audits and
Supplier ISO 9000 audits.
AMREP Mexican operations are concentrated at Guadalahara
which is our Mexican operational head office.. Our other operations
are located at Tijuana, Mexicali, Chihuahua, Monterrey, Nogales,
