Technical
Compliance
Case Example
AMREP was assigned quality inspection work
at a Singapore Electronics Subcontractor located at Batam,
Indonesia. AT&T Wireless quality engineers had spent weeks
working with AMREP and the supplier to correct the quality
defects on the final products. Frustration was growing between
supplier's production management and AT&T's engineers.
AMREP sat in at a customer/supplier argument meetings. In
quiet conversations with the Supplier's production
management AMREP found that the Supplier had sufficient
technical capabilities to do a good job. AT&T Design and
Engineering had given them a product which demanded more than
their current capabilities could handle. However, as they
were working with two different AT&T teams from different
department, they became confused by different standards and
requirements. However, no one from the supplier had the courage
to say " We cannot do this because...." to the customer. That's
Asian business culture for you.
