Case Example: Customer's Taiwan Supplier's Quality Disaster

AMREP North America Inc. had a Phoenix, Arizona US customer which placed an order with a Taiwan electronics supplier for a product assembly which was to be delivered to the customer's customer. There were too many quality problems which makes it impossible for our customer to satisfy his buyer's delivery time. When he failed to get the supplier to improve or to work things out with him he activated AMREP Taiwan. Our customer went with our Level 2 quality personnel to check out the situation. Only then did he find that the supplier did not have a Quality Manager/Director or a Quality Plan but was ISO certified. There were some angry arguments between our customer and supplier. The problems had to be fixed because our customer's buyer was also at the supplier meeting. The only way to fix the problem immediately was to have our Level 2 quality man take charge of the production quality and work out a quality plan for immediate implementation. To change to a new supplier was no option. To save the costs and an angry buyer was easier by using AMREP to work with the supplier.
